Day 34 Eric Carle Author Study

Today’s Assignments:
-Watch these videos to learn about Eric Carle
-Spent 15 minutes on IXL or Khan Academy
-Help Mom or Dad with at least 1 chore.

Good Morning Kindergarten! Today’s author study is one I always save until the end of the school year, Eric Carle. Many of you have read his stories before, but did you know he has a unique method for making his illustrations? Here are some of his most famous stories, one even read by the author himself!

The Very Hungry Caterpillar: https://youtu.be/vYG1tLt5GCQ
The Very Lonely Firefly: https://youtu.be/_XrPyF4Mpl4
The Very Quiet Cricket: https://youtu.be/KW_7Ud7qiAA
The Very Busy Spider: https://youtu.be/Dfr5DWThSmA

When Eric Carle makes his illustrations, he first paints pieces of paper with different colors and patterns. Then he lets them dry and cuts them up to make a collage. Check out this video about how you could paint or color your own Eric Carle paper: https://youtu.be/huGGpLYitTQ

This video is very long, but even the first 5 minutes of it are worth watching. It is an interview with Eric Carle where he shows how he makes pictures and books and why he decided to be an author or picture writer. https://youtu.be/0wXWLaVX8Mw

There is no assignment to turn in to your teacher today, but if you would like to make your own Eric Carle collage pictures we would love to see them. Enjoy the weekend!
