Hi Kindergarten,
We have a nice lesson from Mrs. Kibbey, sorry it's late!
Happy Friday Kindergarten Friends:
Please listen to the two Rainbow Songs. Think about how they are the same and different. Tell someone (Mom, Dad, brother or sister) something you have learned about the two songs. Can you dance to one? What do both songs tell us that is the same?
When you get there, click login then click "I am a student" and put in the password starkind3273 Click the video link.
Click the "read and listen" tab under the issue There is a button at the top that says "read aloud," it will read each page, you will still have to use the arrow on the right to turn pages. You can also click on the small orange arrows and play the two videos about birds feeding.
On the back page you can click the letters to spell the words. You can type the letters on the line.
Good morning, kindergarten! Can you believe that the school year is almost over, and it is almost summer vacation? During the summer, the weather is warmer, so you can do lots of activities outside…don’t forget to wear sunscreen! To start our lesson today, I want you to watch these three videos. Two of them are songs about things that you can do and enjoy in the summer, and the third one is Kid President talking about some of his favorite things about the summer.
Now that you’ve watched the videos, I want you to think about one of your favorite things to do during the summer. Is it one of the things mentioned in a video, or do you have another favorite activity that you plan on enjoying? For your assignment today, I want you to draw a picture and write at least two sentences about what you like to do in the summer. I want you to use the sentence stem In the summer I like to…
You can see here that I’ve drawn a picture of Hadley and I taking a walk together. We have been taking daily walks around our neighborhood, and it’s always one of my favorite times of day. So, using the sentence stem I told you about, under my picture I want to write the sentence, “In the summer I like to go on walks with Hadley.” I’ve already included that sentence stem on my paper. See, it says, “In the summer I like to.” Notice that I started with a capital “I,” but I used lowercase letters for everything else that I wrote. Now I need to stretch out the rest of my sentence. In the summer I like to go on walks with Hadley.
Remember how I told you that I wanted you to write at least two sentences? Now I need another sentence or two about my walks to give my writing more details. Well, I always find our walks fun, and I especially enjoy them when it is sunny. So, I think I want to say, “They are fun. We like when the sun is out.”
It’s your turn now. Pick one of your favorite summertime activities, and write at least two sentences about it. Don’t forget to start each sentence with a capital letter and end each sentence with a period. Make sure to spell all sight words correctly, and do your best to stretch out all the other words. Make sure to send your finished pieces to your teacher. We can’t wait to see all the fun things all of your are planning to do this summer!
For today's activity, I would like for you to write me a pretend story about some fish in the ocean like Peanut Butter and Jelly. I hope you get really creative with your fiction stories!
Good Morning kindergarten! Today we are going on a virtual
field trip to the San Diego Zoo. The zoo is always one of my favorite places to
visit and the San Diego Zoo has many live cameras where you can actually watch
what the animals are doing at this very moment. I figured since we talked about
building forts last week, it would be a good idea to learn more about some
animal builders. Take a look: https://kids.sandiegozoo.org/index.php/videos/kids-corner-episode-1-animal-builders
Here are some of my favorite other videos and live cameras
from the zoo. Feel free to explore around.
For today’s activity, draw and write about your favorite
animal that you saw at the zoo. It can be one of the animals that I shared with
you, or one you discovered on your own. Have fun at the zoo!
Hi Kindergarten,
Today we are going to practice counting on by playing an addition game with dice. Remember counting on means you can start counting at any number and go on to another number. So if I want to start at 6 and count to 10, I would say "6, 7, 8, 9, 10." I would not start counting with 1.
So you can use two dice, roll, add, and write down the addition number sentence.
For example - I roll a 6 and a 4. I'm going to say 6 and then count on to figure out the total. I will write the number sentence as 6+4=10.
If you don't have dice you can use pennies to make two numbers to add together. Make five addition sentences and send a picture on Remind to your teacher.
Have a great day!
💙,
Mrs. W.

Hi kindergarten! Today we are going to do some practicing with rhyming words. Remember, when words rhyme, they have different beginning sounds, but their endings sound the same, or they are in the same word family. Dig and pig rhyme because they both end with the /ig/ sound. Two and chew also rhyme because they end with the /oo/ sound. All the words in the /at/ family…like cat, bat, mat, rat, chat, hat all rhyme with each other. They all have different beginning sounds, but the same ending. But cow and cat do not rhyme because they have different word endings. Check out these songs to help you practice identifying rhyming and non-rhyming words.
Now that you’ve listened to some songs with rhyming, you’re going to practice coming up with some rhymes by listening to a story. In this silly book, Rhyming Dust Bunnies, three dust bunnies help come up with good rhymes, but Bob, the fourth bunny doesn’t seem to be very good at rhyming…. Listen to it now.
Poor Bob! He wasn’t very good at rhyming, but he tried so hard to keep the dust bunnies from being vacuumed up! Were you able to come up with any of the rhymes the dust bunnies created? Were you able to create any rhymes they didn’t think of? Next, I want you to play some of these online rhyming games. Remember, rhyming words have the same ending sounds, so it helps if you say the words aloud to decide if they rhyme or not. Notice, again, that most pairs of rhyming words are from the same word families.
For today’s assignment, I want you to go on a rhyming scavenger hunt in or around your house. I’m attaching a list below. For every item on it, I want you to find and record at least one object that rhymes with it. You could take a picture of the object, draw a picture of it, or write it down with a word. For example, the first item on the list says “find something that rhymes with bee.” So, I might draw a picture of a key because “bee” and “key” both have the same /ee/ sound at the end. Have fun!
Please listen to the two Rainbow Songs. Think about how they are the same and different. Tell someone (Mom, Dad, brother or sister) something you have learned about the two songs. Can you dance to one? What do both songs tell us that is the same?
Good Morning Kindergartners! Since it has been rainy all
week, I thought it would be a good idea to investigate ways to make an awesome
inside fort. Here are a few videos about the science behind fort building.
There are many materials you can use to build a fort
including blankets, pillows, empty boxes, and chairs. Can you build a fort in
your house? If you were to build a fort, how would you design it? Think through
the steps you would have to do to build your fort. For today’s activity, plan
how you would build a fort in your house. Draw and write about the fort you
would design. If it’s okay with your parents, you can also build your fort
using materials around your house. Don’t forget to clean up after you are done
playing in your fort and put all the pillows and chairs back where they belong.
Here are some pictures of the blanket fort I built yesterday:

Good morning, kindergarten! Today we are going to do some more sight word practice. Remember, when we read sight words, we want to be able to read them right away, so we shouldn’t be stretching out the words. Knowing all those sight words takes lots of practice, so it’s important that you are practicing your sight word flashcards every day. Our focus words today are some, this, and with. First, watch these videos to help you practice each of these words. Remember, it’s okay to watch the videos more than once!
Now, you are going to practice reading those words. Try to shout out the word before I do. I’m also going to include the words you practiced last week and the week before, as well as some other words that you should know. Ready?
How did you do?Remember, if you missed any, you can always watch the video again and keep practicing until you recognize all the words. If you’re ready to move on, for today’s activity, I want you to go on a sight word scavenger hunt and make a list of the words you find. You can, of course, search for sight words in your books, but try to find them in some other creative places, too.Look on labels or on boxes, maybe look in a magazine or in the directions for a game. Try to find at least ten different sight words throughout your house. When you’re done, practice your sight word flashcards and check out the videos below for more practice.
Good Morning Kindergarten!
I thought today it would be nice to do some work with shapes. I will review the shapes with you and then you can write a shape story. Don't forget to write how many of each shape you used.
Draw a picture and write 1-2 sentences about your favorite part of the virtual field trip
Spend 15 minutes on IXL or Khan Academy
Spend 15 minutes on Raz-Kids or doing other reading
Write three words in the -ot, -op, and -og word families (from activity calendar)
Good morning, kindergarten! Today we get to do something new and exciting. We are going to take a virtual field trip to one of my very favorite places—Disney World! Going on a virtual field trip means that we aren’t really there, but we get to use our imaginations to pretend that we really are there while we look at pictures and watch videos. As you click through each of the slides below, you will be able to watch videos of different rides and activities and act like you’re really at Disney. Are you ready? Let’s go!

Good morning, kindergarten! Today we are going to practice a few more tricky sight words to help us become better readers. Remember, when we read sight words, we want to be able to read them right away, so we shouldn’t be stretching out the words. Remembering all those sight words takes lots of practice, so it’s important that you are practicing your sight word flashcards every day. Our focus words today are come, have, and went. First, watch these videos to help you practice each of these words. Remember, it’s okay to watch the videos more than once!
Now that you’ve watched all three videos, I want you to to practice reading those words. Try to shout out the word before I do. I’m also going to include the words you practiced last week with Mrs. Anderson, and some other words that you should know. Ready?
For today’s activity, I want you to write these sight words with the colors of the rainbow. Make sure that you are using lowercase letters when you write, and practice forming your letters correctly. Then, I want you to practice your sight word flashcards. If you already know all your sight words, I want you to write a sentence using each of today’s words. For example, I went for a walk today. When you’re done, check out the links below for online interactive games to give you even more practice with your sight words.
Good Morning Kindergarten,
We are going to work on some math today. We are going to write some addition number stories. Remember that add, plus, and +, mean we are putting numbers together to get a bigger number.
This, = , is called the equals sign. Here are two addition number stories.
I had 5 monster trucks. I got 3 more monster trucks. How many do I have in all? 8.
Matthew made 4 cakes.
Nate made 3 cakes.
How many cakes in all? 7
4 + 3 = 7
